Does my child need a tutor?

Not every child may require a tutor, but there are many situations where extra support can be valuable. If your child is struggling to keep up in school, facing challenges in specific subjects, or preparing for important exams like BECE, WASSCE, IB, Cambridge IGCSE, or A-Levels, a tutor can significantly improve their understanding and confidence.

Additionally, if your child has a unique learning style or special educational needs, personalized tuition can provide tailored support to help them thrive academically. At SJ Home Tuition, we provide the right tutors and the necessary guidance to help every child succeed.

What are some signs that my child needs a tutor?

As a parent, you want to see your child succeed in school and develop a love for learning. However, sometimes children face challenges that can make academic progress difficult. If you’re wondering whether your child could benefit from a tutor, here are some key signs to look out for:
1. Declining Grades
If you notice a sudden or gradual drop in your child’s grades, it could indicate that they are struggling to grasp certain concepts. A tutor can help bridge the gaps in their understanding and provide personalized guidance.
2. Lack of Confidence in Schoolwork
Children who struggle academically may begin to doubt their abilities. If your child frequently expresses frustration, anxiety, or a lack of confidence in their schoolwork, tutoring can provide encouragement and help them build self-esteem.
3. Difficulty Completing Homework
Struggling with homework regularly, taking longer than expected, or avoiding assignments altogether could be a sign that your child is having trouble understanding what’s being taught at school. A tutor can provide one-on-one support to reinforce learning.
4. Emotional or Behavioral Changes Toward School
If your child suddenly dislikes school or dreads attending class, it may be due to academic difficulties. A tutor can help make learning more enjoyable by addressing challenges in a way that suits your child’s learning style.
5. Lack of Motivation or Interest in Learning
A lack of motivation or disengagement from learning may signal that your child is struggling to keep up. A tutor can introduce new learning strategies and make lessons more engaging to reignite their interest in education.
6. Teacher Recommendations
If your child’s teacher suggests extra help, it’s a good idea to take their advice seriously. Teachers have insight into your child’s progress and can identify areas where additional support is needed.
7. Challenges with Foundational Learning Skills
If your child has difficulty mastering foundational skills, such as reading comprehension, math concepts, or writing structure, they may benefit from extra guidance. Strengthening these basics can prevent future learning challenges.
8. Difficulty Staying Organized
Poor time management, missed assignments, and disorganized study habits can make schoolwork overwhelming. A tutor can help teach organizational skills and study techniques to improve your child’s academic performance.
9. Preparing for Tests or Major Exams
If your child struggles with test-taking or has an important exam coming up, a tutor can provide strategies for effective studying and test preparation.
Conclusion
Recognizing the signs that your child may need a tutor is the first step in helping them succeed. A tutor can offer personalized support, improve confidence, and make learning a more positive experience. If you’ve noticed any of these signs, consider seeking additional academic support to help your child reach their full potential.

Why Do Parents Choose a Home Tutor?

Parents choose home tutoring to give their child extra learning support in a way that fits their needs. A tutor teaches at the child’s pace, fills knowledge gaps, and makes tough subjects easier to understand.
Some parents aren’t home when their child returns from school and want someone to guide their studies and keep them on track. Others look for a tutor who can be a mentor. They also look for a strong character who can inspire and motivate their child. A tutor also helps build discipline, better study habits, and confidence, making learning less stressful and more enjoyable.

What does a home tutor do?

A home tutor tailors lessons to match a child’s pace and understanding, helping them build a strong foundation in challenging subjects. They identify and fill knowledge gaps, ensuring that learning is continuous and effective.
Beyond academics, a tutor fosters discipline, helping the child develop good study habits and stay focused. They also create a fun and engaging learning environment, making lessons enjoyable rather than stressful. Acting as a mentor, a home tutor provides guidance, motivation, and confidence, helping the child succeed both in school and beyond.

Can a Tutor Help a Slow Learner?

Yes, a tutor can be very helpful for a slow learner. Tutors provide personalized attention, allowing the child to learn at their own pace without the pressure of a traditional classroom. They focus on building foundational skills, using engaging and interactive methods to make learning easier. A tutor can also identify specific challenges and adjust teaching strategies to match the child’s learning style. With patience, encouragement, and consistent support, a tutor can help a slow learner gain confidence and improve academically.

How Can a Weak Student Be Improved?

Parents play a big role in helping a weak student improve. Encouraging them, celebrating small achievements, and creating a quiet study space can make a big difference. Talking to the tutor and staying involved helps keep learning on track. Simple activities like reading together or discussing schoolwork can also help reinforce what they learn.
Our tutors provide the extra support students need. They adjust lessons to match the child’s pace, making learning easier and more enjoyable. Tutors focus on building strong foundations, explaining difficult topics, and teaching good study habits. With one-on-one guidance, students gain confidence, stay motivated, and improve over time.
With the right support from both parents and tutors, a weak student can grow, learn, and succeed.

How Can we help a child catch up in school?

We help children catch up by providing personalized tutoring that focuses on filling gaps, strengthening key skills, and building confidence. Our tutors adjust lessons to match the child’s pace and use a tutor planner to schedule classes and cover topics within the needed timeframe.
Parents can also support by setting up a study routine, encouraging a positive attitude, and staying in touch with the tutor. With the right support, a child can catch up and stay on track in school.

How Do We Help a Child Who Doesn’t Want to Learn?

When a child isn’t interested in learning, the right approach can make a big difference. Our tutors use fun and interactive methods to make lessons more engaging. This can include games, hands-on activities, and real-life examples to help connect learning to everyday life. For example, we might use storytelling to teach reading, fun math challenges to make problem-solving exciting, or relate lessons to the child’s favorite hobbies, like sports or art.

We also focus on building confidence by starting with easier concepts and slowly introducing more difficult ones. Many children lose interest because they feel school is too hard, so we create a stress-free learning environment where mistakes are part of the process.

Our tutors take time to understand why the child is struggling—whether it’s boredom, fear of failure, or difficulty with a subject. Lessons are adjusted to match their learning style and interests, making learning feel more natural and enjoyable.

Parents can help by creating a positive home environment, encouraging curiosity, and working with the tutor to reinforce lessons. With patience, creativity, and the right support, any child can regain interest in learning.

Should Kids Study After School?

Many parents worry about whether extra studying after school will add too much pressure on their child. While rest and play are important, structured home tuition can be beneficial if done right.
A home tutor helps by making learning engaging and stress-free, focusing on understanding rather than memorization. Sessions are tailored to the child’s pace, ensuring they don’t feel overwhelmed. Tutors also use interactive methods, short breaks, and a comfortable schedule to keep learning enjoyable.
The key is balance—ensuring children have the time for homework, hobbies, and relaxation while reinforcing difficult topics in a way that reduces frustration. With the right approach, extra learning becomes a confidence booster, not a burden.

How many types of tuition are there?

Tuition typically comes in two forms: private and group.
Private tuition offers one-on-one lessons tailored to a student’s needs, providing personalized support. Group tuition involves small classes where students of similar levels learn together, fostering collaboration and peer interaction.
Both have unique benefits, depending on the student’s learning style and goals.

Is a tutor the same as a teacher?

Not exactly. A teacher typically follows a set curriculum in a school, teaching a large class. A tutor, however, provides more personalized support, focusing on a student’s specific strengths and weaknesses. Tutors can adapt lessons, offer extra practice, and clarify difficult concepts, helping students learn at their own pace.

Is Online Tutoring Worth It?

Yes, online tutoring is worth it for many students! It offers flexibility, convenience, and access to highly qualified tutors from around the world. Unlike traditional in-person tutoring, where options may be limited to local tutors, online tutoring allows students to learn from top educators regardless of location.
With interactive tools like digital whiteboards and video calls, students can receive personalized support just like in face-to-face lessons. However, the effectiveness depends on the student’s learning style—some may prefer in-person interaction, while others thrive in an online setting. If your child is comfortable with technology and needs access to top-quality tutors, online tutoring can be a valuable investment in their education

One-to-One or Group Tuition?

Both one-to-one and group tuition have their advantages, and the best choice depends on a student’s learning style, academic needs, and preferences.
One-to-one tuition provides personalized attention, allowing the tutor to focus entirely on the student’s strengths and weaknesses. Lessons can be tailored to the student’s pace, making it ideal for those who need extra support or want to excel in a particular subject. This method also encourages better interaction and confidence in asking questions.
On the other hand, group tuition promotes collaborative learning, where students can exchange ideas and learn from each other. It is often more affordable and can create a sense of motivation through friendly competition. Additionally, it helps students develop social and communication skills, which are valuable for overall academic growth.
Ultimately, the decision depends on what works best for the student. Those who need focused guidance may benefit more from one-to-one tuition, while students who enjoy interaction and shared learning may thrive in a group setting. Some may even find a combination of both methods to be the most effective.

What Are the Benefits of One-on-One Tutoring?

One-on-one tutoring offers numerous benefits, making it an excellent choice for many students. The most significant advantage is personalized attention. Unlike group tutoring, where a tutor has to split their focus among several students, one-on-one tutoring allows the tutor to fully concentrate on the individual’s specific needs and learning pace. This means lessons can be tailored to address the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style, resulting in more effective teaching.
Another benefit is increased engagement and confidence. In a private setting, students feel more comfortable asking questions and expressing difficulties without the fear of embarrassment. This leads to a better understanding of the material and a boost in confidence. Additionally, flexibility is a key advantage. Students can spend more time on challenging topics and move ahead faster in areas where they excel.
Overall, one-on-one tutoring provides a focused, supportive environment that helps students reach their full potential. Whether it’s for struggling learners, those seeking enrichment, or anyone looking for more individualized instruction, this method is highly effective in fostering academic success.

What Are the Disadvantages of Online Tutoring?

While online tutoring has many benefits, it also comes with a few challenges. Technical issues, such as poor internet connection or software problems, can interrupt lessons and affect the learning flow. Some students may also find it harder to engage through a screen, especially younger learners who benefit from face-to-face interaction and hands-on activities.
Another disadvantage is the potential for distractions at home, which can reduce focus and productivity during lessons. Additionally, certain subjects that require physical demonstrations or lab work may be more difficult to teach effectively online.
At SJ Home Tuition, we understand these challenges and work to minimize them by using reliable platforms, trained tutors, and providing parents with guidance on creating an ideal home learning environment. While online tutoring may not suit every learner, with the right support, it can still be a powerful and convenient learning option.

What Is Small Group Tutoring?

Small group tutoring involves a tutor teaching a few students at the same time, usually between 2 to 5 learners. Unlike large classroom settings, small group sessions allow for more interaction and individual attention while still offering the benefits of collaborative learning.
In this format, students can learn from each other, share ideas, and build confidence by engaging in discussions. It also encourages healthy academic competition and helps develop teamwork and communication skills.
At SJ Home Tuition, our small group tutoring sessions are carefully planned to match students by level, subject, and learning pace, ensuring that each child benefits from both peer interaction and the tutor’s guidance. It’s a great option for parents to seek a cost-effective solution that still provides quality support and academic growth.

Which Is Better, Face-to-Face or Online Tuition?

Both face-to-face and online tuition have unique advantages, and the best option depends on the student’s learning style and needs.
Face-to-face tuition offers a more personal and interactive experience. Tutors can use physical teaching tools, observe body language, and build stronger in-person relationships with students. This format is especially beneficial for younger children or students who need extra help staying focused.
Online tuition, however, provides flexibility, convenience, and access to a much wider range of talented tutors from across the country—or even around the world. This means students aren’t limited to local options and can find a tutor who perfectly matches their learning needs and goals. Online platforms also make it easier to schedule lessons and learn from the comfort of home.
At SJ Home Tuition, we offer both face-to-face and online tutoring, helping parents choose what works best for their child. Whether it’s the structured environment of in-person sessions or the global access and flexibility of online learning, we’re committed to delivering high-quality support in every format.

Can Anyone Be a Tutor?

Not everyone can be a tutor—at least not at SJ Home Tuition. While having knowledge of a subject is important, being an effective tutor requires much more.
At SJ Home Tuition, we look for tutors who are not only academically strong, but also patient, reliable, and passionate about teaching. Tutors must be able to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and build a positive rapport with students.
We carefully select our tutors based on their qualifications, experience, and most importantly, their ability to connect with and support learners. Many of our tutors are trained educators or high-performing university students with proven teaching skills.
So, while many people may know a subject well, being a tutor at SJ Home Tuition means going beyond that. It means being a mentor, a motivator, and someone who truly cares about student progress.

What Is the Difference Between a Teacher and a Tutor?

While both teachers and tutors help students learn, their roles and approaches are quite different.
A teacher usually works in a classroom setting, following a set curriculum and teaching a group of students. They manage large classes, prepare lesson plans, assess progress, and ensure that students meet academic standards. Teachers often have formal training and certifications to work in schools.
A tutor, on the other hand, works with students individually or in small groups. Tutoring focuses on personalized support—helping students understand specific topics, catch up, revise, or even get ahead. Tutors adapt their teaching style to the student’s needs, often giving more time and attention than is possible in a classroom.
At SJ Home Tuition, our tutors act as academic coaches, supporting and reinforcing what students learn at school, filling in gaps, and boosting confidence. While a teacher sets the foundation, a tutor helps build on it in a more focused and flexible way.

Do I Need a Qualified Teacher as My Tutor?

Not necessarily. While qualified teachers bring valuable classroom experience and training, a great tutor doesn’t always have to be a certified teacher. What truly matters is their subject knowledge, teaching ability, and how well they connect with the student.
At SJ Home Tuition, we work with both experienced teachers and high-achieving university students who have a passion for teaching and a strong academic background. All our tutors are carefully screened to ensure they can explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and help students build confidence and understanding.
So, while having a qualified teacher can be a bonus, it’s not the only path to effective tutoring. The best tutor is one who can make learning easier, more enjoyable, and tailored to your child’s needs.

How Do I Know If a Tutor Is Good?

A good tutor is someone who not only knows their subject well but also has the ability to explain it in a way that makes sense to the student. One key indicator of a good tutor is clear communication. A tutor should be able to break down complex ideas into manageable concepts that are easy to understand. Patience is another important trait. A good tutor will be supportive, allowing the student to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace without feeling rushed or judged.
A good tutor is also prepared and consistent. They come to each session with a plan and adapt their approach as needed. If a tutor is well-organized and reliable, it creates a positive learning environment where the student feels confident and motivated. Additionally, progress is a crucial sign of a good tutor. Over time, you should notice improvement in your child’s understanding of the material and their academic performance.
At SJ Home Tuition, we ensure that all our tutors meet these criteria. We carefully select tutors who can provide not only expert knowledge but also the support and personalized attention that lead to real academic growth.

What Makes a Good Home Tutor?

A good home tutor goes beyond simply teaching the subject matter—they create a positive, supportive learning environment tailored to the student’s needs. The key to being an effective home tutor lies in a combination of expert knowledge, communication skills, and personalization.
First and foremost, a good home tutor should have strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of the material. They must be able to explain concepts in a way that resonates with the student, making learning easier and more engaging. Additionally, they need to be patient and encouraging, fostering a safe space where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
A good tutor also provides individualized attention. Unlike classroom settings, home tutoring allows tutors to tailor their teaching methods to fit the student’s learning style, pace, and specific needs.
At SJ Home Tuition, we look for tutors who not only excel academically but who are also passionate about teaching and are dedicated to helping students grow. A good home tutor builds a trusting relationship with the student, helps them stay motivated, and ensures continuous progress toward their academic goals.

What Qualities Do Good Tutors Have?

Good tutors possess a variety of qualities that help them effectively support and guide students in their learning journey. First and foremost, they must have strong subject knowledge and an ability to explain complex concepts clearly. They should be able to break down difficult topics into smaller, manageable pieces, making learning more accessible.
Patience is another key quality of a good tutor. Students often need time to grasp new ideas, and a good tutor will remain calm and understanding, giving them space to learn at their own pace without frustration.
Adaptability is crucial as well. Each student has a unique learning style, so a good tutor will adjust their teaching methods to fit the individual’s needs. Whether the student learns best through visual aids, hands-on activities, or verbal explanations, a great tutor will tailor their approach accordingly.
In addition to academic skills, good tutors must be good communicators. They should be able to explain concepts in simple, clear terms and provide constructive feedback. They must also be motivating and able to inspire students to stay focused and engaged.
At SJ Home Tuition, we carefully select tutors who not only excel in their subject areas but also embody these qualities, ensuring each student receives the best support possible.

What Should I Ask a Potential Tutor?

When looking for a tutor, asking the right questions can help you determine whether they are the right fit for your child. First, it’s important to inquire about their experience and qualifications. Understanding their background, education, and teaching experience will give you insight into their expertise and ability to teach effectively.
Next, ask about the tutor’s approach to teaching. A good tutor should have a clear, structured plan and be able to adapt their methods to match your child’s learning style. This ensures that your child receives personalized attention and guidance that suits their unique needs.
It’s also important to understand how the tutor measures progress. A good tutor will regularly assess your child’s understanding, provide constructive feedback, and adjust their lessons to address any areas of difficulty.
Additionally, consider the tutor’s availability and flexibility. Ensure their schedule aligns with your child’s and ask if they can accommodate changes when needed.
Finally, ask how the tutor keeps students motivated. A great tutor knows how to keep learning engaging and inspiring, which can make a significant difference in your child’s attitude towards their studies.
At SJ Home Tuition, we ensure all our tutors meet high standards of experience, expertise, and dedication to student success, helping parents find the best possible match for their child’s needs.

What Tutors Are Most in Demand?

In Ghana, the most in-demand tutors are those who specialize in core academic subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Integrated Science, and Social Studies, especially for students preparing for the BECE and WASSCE exams. These subjects are essential for academic progression and often require extra support to achieve top results.
Tutors for Elective subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Business Management, Economics, and Literature are also highly sought after, particularly for SHS students and those aiming for competitive university programs.
There is also a strong and growing demand for tutors who support students following international curricula such as the Cambridge (IGCSE, O Level, A Level) and IB (International Baccalaureate) programs. These students often need specialized tutors who understand the international exam structure, marking schemes, and high academic expectations.
Additionally, parents often seek Primary-level tutors to help younger children strengthen their foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy.
At SJ Home Tuition, we receive frequent requests for qualified, reliable tutors who can provide personalized support across both local and international curricula. Whether it’s catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, experienced tutors in both Ghanaian and international subjects remain highly valued.

How Much Do You Charge?

At SJ Home Tuition, our rates typically range from GHS 110 to GHS 130 per session for the Ghanaian curriculum, and GHS 120 to GHS 200 per session for the Cambridge, IB and other international curricula. Each session usually lasts about two hours, and pricing may vary depending on the subject, the student’s level, and the location.
We also offer reduced rates for families who book multiple sessions per week. The more frequent the lessons, the lower the cost per session; making it easier to stay consistent and committed to academic growth.

We strive to offer quality tutoring at fair and competitive rates, ensuring that every student receives personalized, focused support from a skilled tutor. Whether it’s one-on-one or small group sessions, our goal is to deliver real academic progress and excellent value.
Feel free to reach out to discuss your specific needs, and we’ll help you find the right tutor at a rate that works for you.

How Does Payment Work?

At SJ Home Tuition, payment is made in advance, or every two weeks for the first two months. After this initial period, we understand that you may have different preferences, and we are flexible with payment arrangements to suit your needs.
Once the tutor is assigned and the schedule is confirmed, we will provide payment details. Payments can be made via mobile money or bank transfer, and receipts will be provided for all transactions.
We strive to make the payment process clear, secure, and as convenient as possible, ensuring that you can focus on your child’s learning and academic progress.

Is Online Tutoring Cheaper?

Yes, online tutoring is often more affordable than face-to-face tutoring. Without the need for travel, transportation costs and time are reduced—for both the tutor and the student. This often makes it possible to offer lower rates for the same quality of teaching.
At SJ Home Tuition, our online sessions are priced competitively while still providing access to highly qualified tutors, including those who may not be available locally. Online tutoring also allows for more flexible scheduling and the ability to connect with a wider pool of talented tutors, both within Ghana and internationally.
So, if you’re looking for quality tutoring at a more budget-friendly rate, online tutoring is a great option to consider.

General Cost of Tuition in Ghana.

In Accra, the average rate for one-on-one tuition following the Ghanaian curriculum typically ranges from GHS 100 to GHS 150 per session, with each session lasting between one and two hours. For one-on-one tuition in the Cambridge, International Baccalaureate (IB), and other international curricula, rates generally range from GHS 100 to GHS 500 per session, also with sessions lasting between one and two hours.
Generally, group tuition costs less than one-on-one tuition and is often charged on a monthly basis. The specific cost of group tuition can vary significantly depending on factors such as the number of students in the group, the subject being taught, and the duration and frequency of the sessions. Monthly charges for group tuition can range considerably based on these variables.
It’s important to note that these are general averages, and actual tuition costs can be influenced by several factors, including:
The Tutor’s Experience and Qualifications: More experienced and highly qualified tutors may charge higher rates.
The Subject Matter: Specialized or more demanding subjects might command higher fees.
The Student’s Level: Tuition for higher academic levels (e.g., senior high school or university preparation) may be more expensive.
The Location: While the initial ranges provided are specific to Accra, costs in other regions of Ghana may differ. Even within Accra, variations can exist based on the specific neighborhood or the tutor’s overhead costs.
The Duration and Frequency of Sessions: Longer or more frequent sessions can impact the overall cost.
When considering tuition in Ghana, it is advisable to inquire directly with tutoring centers or individual tutors to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date pricing information based on your specific needs and requirements.

How Long Should a Tutoring Session Last?

A typical tutoring session should last between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student’s age, attention span, and the complexity of the subject.
For most students, especially at the Junior High and Senior High School levels, 2 hours is ideal. It allows enough time to review past material, introduce new topics, practice questions, and clarify any doubts without feeling rushed.
For younger learners, slightly shorter sessions (around 1 to 1.5 hours) may be more effective, as they tend to have shorter attention spans.
At SJ Home Tuition, our standard session length is 2 hours, as we find it provides the right balance of focus and depth to support real academic improvement. However, we’re flexible and can adjust the session duration based on your child’s needs and learning pace.

At What Age Can You Start Tutoring?

Tutoring can begin as early as age 3 to 4 years, especially when the goal is to support early childhood education. At this stage, tutoring often focuses on basic literacy and numeracy skills, such as learning to read, count, write letters, and develop concentration.
As children progress into primary school, tutoring becomes even more valuable in helping them build a strong academic foundation, boost confidence, and stay on track with schoolwork.
At SJ Home Tuition, we offer tutoring for students from preschool through to SHS and beyond. Our tutors adapt their teaching style to suit each age group, using interactive and age-appropriate methods to make learning both effective and enjoyable from the very start.

How Often Should I Use a Tutor?

The ideal tutoring frequency depends on your child’s academic needs, goals, and availability. For most students, 2 to 3 sessions per week works well to build understanding, reinforce learning, and steadily improve performance.
For those preparing for important exams like the BECE, WASSCE, IGCSE, or IB, or students who need intensive support, tutoring can be increased to 4 or even 5 times a week. More frequent sessions allow for focused revision, consistent practice, and quicker progress.
Younger students or those who need only a little extra help may do well with 1 session per week, just to stay confident and on track.
At SJ Home Tuition, we tailor tutoring plans to suit each student’s needs—whether it’s once a week or daily sessions. Our flexible scheduling helps ensure consistent support that leads to real academic results.

Is Tutoring Once a Week Effective?

Yes, tutoring once a week can be effective, especially for students who need light support, are keeping up with their schoolwork, or simply need help with homework, revision, or confidence building.
A weekly session provides time for the tutor to check in, reinforce key concepts, and keep the student on track without overwhelming their schedule. It’s also a good starting point for younger learners or students adjusting to tutoring for the first time.
However, for students who are struggling academically, preparing for major exams like BECE, WASSCE, or IGCSE, or trying to catch up in a subject, one session a week may not be enough. In those cases, 2 to 5 sessions per week are often more effective.
At SJ Home Tuition, we help parents decide the best frequency based on their child’s goals and learning pace. Whether once a week or more, consistency and quality are key to progress.

How Will I Know That My Child Is Safe?

At SJ Home Tuition, your child’s safety is very important to us. We carefully screen and vet every tutor, including background and reference checks, to ensure they are responsible and trustworthy.
We also encourage parents to meet the tutor beforehand, whether online or in person, so you feel confident about who is teaching your child. For in-person sessions, we recommend having a parent or trusted adult nearby during lessons, especially for younger children.
For online sessions, parents can observe from a distance or check in anytime, making it easy to stay involved. We’re always available to address any concerns, and we work hard to make sure every student learns in a safe and supportive environment.

How Do I Start and Stop the Tuition?

Getting started with SJ Home Tuition is simple. Just contact us with your child’s needs—like the subject, level, preferred schedule, and whether you want online or in-person lessons. We’ll then match you with a suitable tutor, and once you’re happy with the choice, lessons can begin right away.
If you ever need to pause or stop the tuition, just let us know. There’s no long-term commitment—you can stop at any time, ideally with a little notice so we can update the tutor. We’re also happy to reschedule or switch tutors if your needs change.
We keep the process flexible and parent-friendly, so you’re always in control of what works best for your family.

What Happens If a Lesson Is Cancelled?

At SJ Home Tuition, we understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel a lesson, we kindly ask for at least 6 hours’ notice. With proper notice, we’ll happily reschedule the session at a convenient time for both you and the tutor.
However, if a lesson is cancelled with less than 6 hours’ notice, the session may still be charged, as tutors reserve that time for your child and may not be able to fill the slot on short notice.
We keep things flexible, but consistent communication helps ensure smooth, respectful arrangements for everyone involved.
