In 2013, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution to protect Albinos against attacks, stigmatization, and discrimination. It was apparent that this group of people had special needs which required the attention of everyone since their rights were curtailed because of their skin color or type. Although it keeps happening, it falls on all individuals to protect the livelihood of everyone hence the need to keep advocating and fighting for the freedom of not just the Albinos, but for all.
Challenges of people with Albinism and school
There are many myths and misconceptions among African countries which have led to the stigmatization of people with Albinism. Mainly owing to witchcraft-related beliefs, some believe that the skin and body parts of people with Albinism bring good luck and increase the potency of their talisman and craft. Children with Albinism are a target for these kinds of mutilations due to their innocence. Other beliefs of some African countries say that sex with people with Albinism can cure HIV/AIDS resulting in the sexual abuse and rape of girls with Albinism.
A more outrageous belief is that children with Albinism die young hence it is not necessary to invest in the livelihood and education of such children therefore siblings without albinism become the focus of parents.
What is Albinism and Our Role as individuals
Albinism is a rare hereditary condition that limits the body’s generation of the shade melanin within the skin, hair, and eyes. Children with albinism confront several challenges including low vision and vulnerability to the sun. The visual impedance of children with albinism means that even though they go to school, their needs aren’t suited within the classroom. They’ll moreover regularly experience the genuine stigma of demonization, bullying, or disregard. This could influence their capacity to memorize successfully and create a positive sense of individual identity.
As such tutors play a critical role in the lives of children with albinism as they can offer assistance to help them develop, learn and figure out their full potential in life. The tutors of SJ Home Tuition have a great experience, understanding, and love for children and individuals of all races. In the vetting process, care is taken to ensure education and love for teaching are paramount in the character of a tutor. Moreover, sessions are monitored, and comments and remarks and taken at the end of each session to protect students and teachers at all times.
Our Goal
At SJ Home Tuition, our goal is to help students regardless of race, color or location to help improve their lives since education is the best way to bring change in the mindset of individuals and society as a whole.
